January Newsletter 2010

  • HTEC News - January 2010

As I write this in late December, I am filled with gratitude to God, and to all of you for all the blessings we have known together in Holy Trinity Church in this past year.  We have become a truly remarkable parish family together, bearing the love of Christ to one another in many tangible ministries.  It is truly a joy to be a priest in your midst, and I am reminded daily of all they ways the people of Holy Trinity are a blessing to me and the members of my family.

  • Pastoral Care

A pastor, in Latin, is a shepherd.  Our Lord described himself as a good shepherd, who knew his sheep, and whose sheep knew him. In 1719 Isaac Watts, paraphrased the beginning of the 23rd Psalm in the words, “My shepherd will supply my need.”

  • Thoughts From Your Senior Warden - January

As I type these words, I sit and look out onto a cold, grey New England winter day. The ground is laced with a heavy frost. The trees have shed their leaves and are stark sentries of the winter solstice matted dark against a lighter grey sky. • We Care January 2010

Please mark your calendars for our Pasta Supper to be held in Locke Hall February 6th.  WeCare invites you to join us as we gather together to share a meal, spend time with friends and loved ones and support one of our missions.  Our parish provides and serves dinner at Loaves & Fishes six times a year.

  • Trust in the Slow Work of God

Those of you who were able to attend Christmas Eve services may remember Fr. Ed Goetz’ sermon which commented on the atmosphere of urgency in today’s society, accentuated by the technology of instant communication.  He concluded with a poem by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, a French born Jesuit priest, scientist and philosopher who spoke of another way of living.  The quotation was somewhat lengthy and is reproduced here so that anyone who is touched by the words can reflect on them further, and perhaps return to them from time to time.

  • Storm Related Cancellation

Storm Related Cancellation of Sunday Services Policy:

  • New Year's Resolutions

Here’s a resolution I want you all to take on. Make 2 of your meals with foods that contain 2 or less ingredients. Foods that have not been altered processed or changed by anyone. Foods that God or a farmer produced. If you can do this for at least 2 of your meals-
